John Temperato

–

Scottsville, New York

John Temperato was born on June 7,1950 and passed away on May 18, 2026.

He is predeceased by his Mother Angeline “Ricky” Temperato, his father John Temperato and his wife Cyndi Temperato. He is survived by his Brothers Don and Mark, his sister Lynn Farrell, son Andrew Temperato, daughter Tracy (Peter) Lewis, his grandchildren Vicki, Andrew, Josh and John, also many nieces and nephews.

John grew up in Avon, NY where his parents owned and lived above the Avondale restaurant. In 1963 a fire damaged the apartment/restaurant which resulted in the family having to relocate with relatives. They also had a cottage on Conesus Lake where they would spend many summers. John attended St. Agnes school then Avon High school where he met his loving wife of 55 years, Cyndi. After graduation in 1969, John joined the National Guard and married Cyndi in 1970. He remained in the Guard for 6 years. They moved to Scottsville in the late 1970’s and John started a career at Kodak. He worked there until he injured his eye on the job in the mid 1980’s. In 1989, John opened up his own shoe repair shop in Leroy, NY called Tempo’s Tack and Shoe repair. In 1996, John and Cyndi packed up and moved from Scottsville to Covington, Louisiana. John started working at Freeland products where he built and restored high frequency radio tubes. After hurricane Katrina and rebuilding their home twice, John and Cyndi decided to leave southern life and rejoin their family back up in New York.

John loved playing piano. He learned as a young boy and even though he tried to read music, he just never caught on. He played by ear and the songs he played would just resonate in you. He loved playing the boogie woogie and if you stopped by the shop, you would always hear him jamming away. He loved to hunt when he was younger but his most favorite thing to do, especially with his kids and grandkids, was fish.

John was such a fun guy to be around. He could always make you laugh and he loved busting your chops. John was a kind, gentle man, but he was also very firm when the situation called for it. He was a good listener and would give you advice, even if it was not the advice you wanted. His laughter and love will live on in the many lives he touched.

Friends and family are invited to call on Saturday, June 6, from 11-1, with a service to follow at 1pm, at J.H. Cameron Funeral Home, 26 Rochester Street, Scottsville.
